A hot spring ahead?

Normally, i embrace spring because the weather warms up but not to the extent of hot so it is very refreshing to have a nice 20 degrees day everyday. This year, the weather has been soo weird!!


Firstly, Winter wasn't cold at all..well, i would say we had a very mild winter and it was just raining every single day making me miserable the entire time. Not only was i depressed because i couldn't walk out to the shops but i was handicapped too! I had to be dependent on either Ironchef or Karen (Caitlin's mum) to help me pick and drop Lil Tinkerbell off at kindy. I hate being dependent on people and I hate being cooped up at home 24/7!!

So winter came and gone, we had Spring and guess what? It was the coldest Spring ever..in fact, it felt colder than winter itself!! So when my mum came and visited us here, she was shivering down to her bones because of the wind and chill! Poor mum!!


The latest weather forecast this week..is worse!! Everyone knows i hate summer! I hate the heat and I hate flies and bugs and everything that comes with it..and guess what again? It is 28 degrees today and tomorrow 31 degrees before dropping back to 28 degrees again and to top it all off..this weekend..it is going to be a whopping 36 degrees this Sunday! (mind you, it is not even Summer yet!!) sigh...climate change..

By the way, we had an unexpected visitor in my garden few days ago....

A yucky Shingleback lizard!! It walked inside my garden unwelcomed and totally..i mean TOTALLY freeaked me out!! By the time i actually saw it, i scurried the kids into the house immediately and rang ironchef up! He wasn't at home so the next option was to ring a friend which i did who turned up 30 mins later only to find that it had already left! Phew..thank goodness!!

I told people about it and guess what they said? Ooo...they are harmless..they don't bite as long as you don't disturb them..and they are good for the gardens and it is good to have them! Heck NO!! You can have them in yours as long as you like...they are soooo...not welcomed here! Eee...just seeing this picture again is giving me goosebumps all over my body and now each time i open my door...i freeze for a second and scan through my garden to make sure i don't see them lying anywhere!!

See?? when the weather warms up..this is what we get? now can u understand why i am such a winter person??

My Lil Rascal's first drawing

I was just stoked when i picked my lil rascal up from the creche after my exercise at the gym to find him showing me his drawing. His first ever drawing and not too bad I must say..haha..

when i asked him what it was..he replied....A ROBOT!!

Bags..Bags..and more Bags...

I think i am growing nuts over bags!! I went shopping and bought 3 bags..in 2 days!! I am supposed to be saving and not spending but i guess i couldn't resist the temptation..afterall..bags are a women's best friend..hehe...hmm..the first one i set my eyes on was this dark brown handbag from esprit..

This second one, i found on the sale rack in the same esprit shop and because i couldn't choose between them, i decided to get both instead..afterall, a sling bag will come in handy too..right??

My third and last (hopefully) pick of the day was this..and i fell in love with it instantly!! A kate hill designer bag but it wasn't the brand that made me want to buy it but the colour PINK!! I am such a sucker for colours...and all my bags come in one standard tone colour BUT this..look at it..don't you just love it??


sigh..i got to stop spending..ARGH!! hmm..we shall see..for now..bags are dominating my wardrobe!!

City to Bay Fun Run

The Annual City to Bay Fun Run is a run held annually and you have a choice of either walking or running 3km,6km or 12km. I did this two years ago when i was super unfit and i ended up walking like a duck! This year, although i have been going to the gym, i thought i would be in a good fitness level so i signed up together with ironchef and decided to do the 6km run. Well, this year was no exception cause after the race, I STILL ENDED UP WALKING LIKE A DUCK!!

It was still fun nonetheless, Lil Miss Chatterbox joined us as well for the 6km run and we met up with our other friends who did the 12km run!

Would i still do this next year? Hmm....interesting...not quite sure.....haha

Spring has arrived..

Yes, winter is now officially over and Spring has arrived. As much as i love winter, spring is just as good. I love seeing flowers booming and festivals starting again. One such event is the Royal Adelaide Show which starts from the 4th Sept and every year, without fail we will bring the kids there and buy loads of showbags the kids can sit on their rides. This year, we will be going on the bargain day which falls next week on Wednesday and Thursday as it is much cheaper.

Apart from the normal sniffles and coughs which happen during winter, i guess everyone of us have survived the winter bugs and once again, hopefully put all those behind us as we look forward to Spring. Spring also calls for more BBQ's which i have yet to plan but is going to definately be on my list of things to do..hehe

But for now, I have to get fit first as ironchef and i have signed up for the city to bay fun run this year which will be on the 20th and will be running 6km. I remember my first year running..oh my gosh!! i was soo unfit and even a granny was more fit than I was!! By the time i finished my run, i was walking more like a duck and was in pain for daysssss...This year, because i have been going to the gym more often now, i am quite confident that i should be in a better state of health this year..haha.*crossing my fingers*...

I'm one very proud parent!

I blogged about my Lil Tinkerbell in my previous post a few months back about her achievements and what i have observed in her. Well, Ironchef and I finally made a decision to send her to see a psychologist and have her tested. We basically just wanted to know whether she was indeed a gifted child or not and if she is a gifted child then what can we do as parents?

The first appointment was nerve wrecking because hey, it is not everyday you walk into a doctor's clinic and say..i think my kid is a genius and turns out not to be one..but i guess we just had to find out. So there we were early in the morning for our first appointment with Mr Sandy Litt. He then went on and started performing a series of IQ tests on her which comprised of drawing to copying to memory games. The first session went well and through his observation, he already indicated to us that YES, on hand we do have a gifted child as she seemed to possess an intellectual ability far beyond her chronological age. We are talking about the mentality of a 7 yr old at hand as she managed to breezed through the tests meant for 3-6 yr olds and was working on 7yr old tests.

We came out beaming with joy but we had to wait for the second and final session for Mr Sandy to finally analyze and come out with an overall report. So the second session was last Monday in the arvo and we brought her in and again she sat down obediently doing her "fun games" as she calls it. Finally after the session, Mr Sandy told us that overall her IQ is at the 99th percentile which is the highest one can achieve!!

UNBELIEVABLE! We were just stoked! Dumbfounded! We didn't see this coming..we knew she was matured and smart but not this SMART!

Now the reality is finally hitting us which then boils down to what next? What can we do? Well, we are suppose to stimulate her..she is always wanting to do something..which is true..and i need actually a support group. parents who have gifted children too so i can then talk to them, get their opinions..advice..so right now, i am just surfing the internet for more information and hopefully help us in guiding her to use her ability to the max.

Another good suggestion was music classes so i have signed her up for piano classes..so hopefully she will find joy in that too. It seems abit daunting now to think of the future and what lies ahead of her but I must learn never to forget that she is still a child and her social behaviour is most important. How she interacts with other kids her age and having friends is the most important thing for her right now..all the rest..I guess can come later..

my hiatus

well..it is not that i haven't had anything interesting to blog about..on the contrary..i had heaps of stuff to do like fixing up appointments to see the optometrist to have my eye check done, the doctor to have my kids immunised, buying tickets for the royal adelaide show and the fairies concert because Isabel wanted to watch them, signing up for the 6km city to bay fun run and my most recent project- i am on a hunt to shop around for another electricity supplier!

My latest power bill came and i could feel my legs giving way the minute i ripped apart the envelope and read the content. There..you can read it yourself..

Yes..a whopping A$467.25!! This is a quarterly bill but last year, it didn't reach the A$400 mark at all!! This winter has brought nothing but rain so in addition to the constant heater being on..i had the dryer on each time i washed my clothes and because Isabel has to come home from kindy with 1 tonne of sand in her shoes and pants!! I swear I could soo strangle that girl..but i can't help it..if all her friends are in the sand pit making mermaids? sigh..i end up washing her clothes every single day including her sweaters as well!

Anyways, I have two companies giving me their fees for electricity so am waiting on the other company to give me theirs before we decide and switch. Meanwhile, my two kids have been sick so i am basically stuck at home with two sick kids..and here..i am not joking..
